One of FLF's first major contributions to La Ladrillera was a town library in 2010. FLF constructed a bamboo building that houses 2 internet-ready computers and printers. FLF stocked the library with books and various school supplies to help children learn to enjoy reading. FLF’s librarian provides after-school learning programs for children.
The library has become a major hub in the community by offering villagers a place to check the internet and print important documents. Children gather to check out books, hear stories and get help with class work.
FLF’s librarian is Dirsy Zapón, who also serves as FLF’s administrative assistant in La Ladrillera. She is in charge of overseeing programs at the library and providing monthly reports to the FLF board in the US.
